Week 27 - Pregnancy Revolutions...
"It is the beginning of the end..."
A cause to celebrate this week! Kristen is now officially into her third trimester with less than 90 days remaining in the pregnancy! At this stage, the baby has >90% chance of surviving if born today. K is still weighing in at a mere nine pounds over her lowest weight and two pounds over pre-pregnancy weight. She's also noticing her pains more. =(
As for the little one, our baby girl has learned how to contort herself and is starting to kick Kristen's ribs recently. According to Kristen, these kicks have NOT been very fun to receive, unlike earlier ones that just felt neat these are actually somewhat uncomfotable. Speaking of kicking, our baby has developed its senses well enough to the point where we can start reading books to her and she will respond to it with kicks! And so off to Barnes & Nobles we went and with a purchase of our new Goodnight Moon baby book I started to read to Kristen's belly. Yeah, it was very parental in a strange kinda way but still fun! Reading to the baby has become a nightly ritual for the three of us. Now we just have to start playing music to her on a regular basis.
Lastly, Goore's called on Thursday with an early arrival of our glider. Whoo-hoo! We picked up the Dutalier (doo-ta-lee-eh) and matching ottoman over the weekend and assembled it in the nursery. Kristen's Mom (our official daycare provider) picked hers up as well. Both are excellent for relaxing and are way comfortable.

Week 25 - Baby Kicks and Babies 'R' Us...
I finally get to one-up Kristen this week. We were talking to Baby Chen on Friday (yes we do this quite often) to get her to kick a little and she responded with some big blows to Kristen's tummy. So I took my hand off Kristen's belly and watched Baby kick a few times but alas, Kristen couldn't see anything! LOL. All of Baby's kicks have been below the belly button and so they've been all out of view for Kristen. =( Yeah, Kristen wasn't too happy that she couldn't participate while I was calling out the kicks just by watching her tummy move.
Anyway, we were back on the baby shopping scene this weekend, but kept purchases to a minimum and spent some time registering for our little girl. Where else? Babies 'R' Us, of course. We filled out all the forms and scanned in quite a few items (about 40ish) like the baby monitor, changing pad, and Pooh lamp. Lots of fun, and yet quite confusing once you start looking at all the different brands there are for everything. I mean, we even have to select from three styles of bottle drying racks. Does it really make a difference which one I pick? Should I go with the cool looking one, or the one that is by a good bottle brand? I mean, do you know the difference between an Avent bottle and a Gerber bottle? We did. =) Good thing we had already purchased Baby Bargains, a neat little book from Amazon that was recommended by Kristen's coworker. Came in quite handy when both of us were scratching our heads. Even better since Kristen actually read the thing. =)
I guess y'all want to know what the registry is online, eh? Ok, here it is: Registry #56144894 at Babies 'R' Us/Babiesrus.com/Amazon.com.

Week 26 - A baby shower...
Grandparents Chen came up to visit with Grandparents Owyang. Lots of talk about the baby (of course) which leads to the topic of a baby shower. Actually, Lily emailed us earlier in the week and offered to help host one for our close friends and family. (Thanks Lil!) My parents were also kind enough to offer up their place in Martinez, so it looks like we'll have one sooner than we thought! Anyway, we're shooting for the weekend just before Thanksgiving so keep that date open! =)
