Up, up, and well, up.
Kaitlyn went to visit Grandma and Grandpa Chen today and discovered the joy of climbing stairs! Kristen let baby k attempt the single step in living room and she did it without a hitch. "Do you think she's climb the stairs?" "Yes," I replied, "just watch." So we placed her in front of the steps and away she went! This was the first time Kaitlyn tried to climb stairs, and she got it on the first try. With only a clear-blue CD jewel case as incentive, Kaitlyn climbed straight up all fourteen steps without stopping.

No, it's not Chase and I really don't think it's funny
Last week the family took a day trip and went to the San Francisco Zoo. This was Kaitlyn's first day trip anywhere not to visit family or friends and was kind of a mini-milestone for the parents to manage a baby for a full day out. I don’t remember the last time I visited the SF Zoo (if ever) and Kristen said it had been more than 15+ years since her last visit with Auntie Dot & Uncle Harvey.
We saw lions and tigers and bears, oh my! We also saw giraffes, penguins, hippos, elephants, and many more. But the classic moment of the trip was went we saw a tiger close up. With Kaitlyn in the stroller, we pulled up nice and close next to a viewing window. Kaitlyn was busy staring at the other people around her and didn't pay much attention to what was on the other side of the window. Suddenly, she saw a big black and orange striped thing lumber toward her and was almost upon her! WAAAAAAH!!! Then it was gone. Then it came back. WAAAAAAH!!! Obviously she doesn't get the whole viewing glass window separation thing yet. =)
It was pretty comical watching the whole episode since she never cried and wailed afterwards even though she was pretty scared and screamed at the two frightening moments. Just two distinct screams, and she was fine once I quickly moved the stroller away.
A fun trip for all three of us, and a few good laughs for us older two. =)
