Kaitlyn’s 19 Month Update
It’s hard to believe that Kaitlyn is already over a year and a half old now. Where has all the time gone??? As you can see by our lack of updates Kaitlyn has been keeping us pretty busy. So here’s our attempt of catching everyone up on what’s new in Kaitlyn’s life.
Starting off with Kaitlyn’s 18 month stats: Kaitlyn is now a whopping 33 ¾ inches tall (95th percentile) and 24 pounds 14 ounces (50th percentile). They say that you can double a person’s height at 2 years old to estimate one’s final height. That means if Kaitlyn continues to grow at her current rate she should be well over 5’8” which translates to Kaitlyn looking down at her mom by the time she’s 10. Scary thought!!!
This summer has brought lots of firsts for Kaitlyn. She had her first trip to the Sacramento zoo, first trip to Funderland (kiddie amusement park in Sacto), first pony ride, first trip to Six Flags Marine World (first elephant ride), first overnight trip (Cousin Chiaty and Andrew’s wedding…beautiful wedding guys!), first trip to the beach, first visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium…the list is endless. It’s definitely been a busy summer already.
Kaitlyn continues to enjoy eating. Everyone is amazed that she will sit at the table the whole time when we go out to eat. It’s not uncommon for Kaitlyn to be the fist one to start eating and the last one to finish. Darrin and I joke that she eats more than her two 4 year old cousins combined. Where does all that food go?!? Now that she finally is starting to get her molars in she is able to eat a wider variety of foods (minus anything with milk, eggs, peanuts, or seafood due to allergies). Her current favorites are pears, blueberries, and grapes. Kaitlyn has definitely surprised us by how healthy an eater she is so far.
Starting around 18 months Kaitlyn’s vocabulary really started to take off. We’re guessing she can now say around 50 words although most of them aren’t pronounced just right. We are also continuing with the baby signs but she only really uses about 10 of those. Her two cutest words right now are “dis” (this) and “pweez” (please). Our mistake was always asking Kailtyn “Do you want this?” when she was asking for things by pointing in the general direction of objects. Now Kaitlyn thinks everything is called “dis” (this) and when she wants something she will point and ask “dis”. That was definitely a first time parent mistake on our part. We are very careful to name everything now. =) We also taught Kaitlyn how to say please and make the baby sign for it. It is just the cutest thing when Kaitlyn says “pweez” without being asked. Kaitlyn thinks as long as she says please she will get what she asks for. It’s really hard to say no but we try not to give in…too often that is. =)
Okay, that’s a quick summary for now. We will try to do better on keeping Kaitlyn’s web site updated but of course there’s no promises.

Pepperchinni anyone?
Weird.
Kaitlyn like's Quizno's pepperchinnis. She also like Subway's pickles. She ate a few slices of each recently. What 19 month-old toddler likes that kind of stuff?

So there are a TON of new pictures K and I just posted moments ago, dating back to before Xmas last year. Exactly 23 pictures. We still need to organize them a bit and add some decent captions, but there they are... enjoy. =)
